For sale is an Antique Primitive 18th to early 19th century Wooden painted pony/goat neck yoke (not large enough for horse or ox) in ox blood red. It is complete with both neck restraints and wooden pegs as well as the wrought iron ring in the middle. The iron component is clearly early blacksmith hand wrought object with great patina and in solid condition. This is a good indicator of the item’s old age. It helps to date this primitive farming tool to 18th to early 19th century. See picture for details. The yoke is beautifully painted in ox blood red color. All original milk paint, great appearance as an primitive display. There are good antique wear on all surfaces of the board. Great patina.
It measures 34” wide and 7.5” tall at the middle iron ring and about 3.5” thick. The item is in good antique condition and is structurally solid! All parts are complete. The bentwood neck restraint had some age appropriate splits but not broken. See the last two pictures for details. Age appropriate surface wears and manufacturer imperfections are to be expected. Please check photos taken from all angles for detailed condition.
Overall, this is an rare early American primitive farming tool item. It would be a great display item at your antique primitive/ country themed home.
