Seller: skwishmi (1,260) 99.4%, Location: Seattle, Washington, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 131781078307 Condition: Please see photos and listing, Color: Black, Material: Cast Iron, Details: This is a really neat piece - the swing arm doesn't have a threaded bolt hole, the plate twists directly onto the end of the arm. No hardware to lose or replace, but the two pieces are made to fit together - you can only use the arm with its original font holder. It's small, a bit over 8 inches long when put together; the arm itself is about 6.25", the plate is about 3 and 5/8 inches across the bottom inside. It was made to hold an oil lamp, but you could put anything you like on it. I have two of these, listed separately, not identical but very similar. They date from between 1830 and 1860. They may need dusting off, but otherwise are ready to decorate or use indoors - they would want another coat of paint (at least) before being used outdoors. I found this missing its wall mounting bracket, and never found one that both fit well, and would pass for original. The tassel pattern is fairly common, but this sconce's peg diameter and design is not... fair warning, it didn't work well with any wall bracket in a similar pattern that I ever found. Of course, you may have better luck, I'm just saying it may be hard to find. The non-matching wall mount seen in the photos is not included. I collected old lamps and their cast iron fixtures for a long time, and reconditioned the iron myself, but I'm an enthusiast, not an expert. All the pieces on offer are rust free and in very good to excellent condition, with one coat of black rust resistant paint, and after they came to me, used only indoors (if at all). A few have patent or makers marks, which will be mentioned. Some may have a letter or number, which may be visible in photos. All of them are vintage or antique ...and that's about all I know about them. Have a great day!
