As an antique collector and seller we've searched for years for an antique orrery that we could afford. Even the models that we used in high school are well outside of our price range. Try and find a Trippensee model made in the past few decades and you'll see what I mean. We were looking for a big showy solar system model / planetarium that would enhance our home and instead we compromised. We found that by taking a well made modern version, adding a primer, painting it, distressing it, and attaching hard to find steampunk style planetary labels, it was transformed to the next level.  We do not consider this a toy for anyone under the age of 12 as it has been carefully and painstakingly artist enhanced. But with guidance, it's a great way to learn about the solar system and it looks incredible in a room. We keep ours in the den. It would be perfect for a library or a man cave.  This particular model is our standard issue. It's in a beautiful blue color with copper and gold accents. No two of our solar systems are the same but they are all wonderful. These run on 4 AA batteries (not included.) What we like about this Geosafari version is that there are two motors which run independently of one another - the smaller planets rotate at a faster speed than the larger planets. The sun does light up. It is much quieter than other models we've seen.    We will ship internationally at your cost.
