Pre-Columbian Carved Wood Kero, Inca, c. 16th century, probably from Peru.  Carving and ethnographic images.  A kero cup (qiro, quero or locally qero) is an ancient Inca vessel used to drink an alcoholic beverage, typically chicha, a fermented corn beer. This kero is a carved wood vessel that is hand-painted with mythological animals and floral images.   8 1/4" tall by 6" across (outside diameter at mouth) Note:  This is a very old artifact and the paint has worn in places.  Nonetheless, the images are visible and the heft and feel of this kero is remarkable.  This is a serious work suitable for museum display.
