Ex-John Barrymore Collection, Famous Hollywood Actor Ex-Collection of Well-Known Philanthropists from San Diego Zoological Society We have been asked to help bring to market a fairly large collection of Asian and French antiques and artifacts from the estate of a married couple who are well-known for their generous philanthropic donations to the world-famous San Diego Zoo.  Among these are numerous objects de art and artifacts that originally came from the estates of several Hollywood celebrities, including John Barrymore , Judy Garland , Mae West ,   and Anita Louise , among others. Also in the estate are several artifacts from the collections of famous industrialist J. A. Appelhof as well as U Thant , the 3rd Secretary General to the U.N. We will be listing these over the weeks to come.  For your consideration is a pair of antique First Empire gilt bronze and marble candlesticks. Each measures approx. 11 3/4 inches (30cm) in height. Originally acquired 44 years ago at the Auction of the Magnificent Estate of John Barrymore conducted by C.B. Charles Galleries in 1974.
