Seller: pastlivesnewagain (710) 100%, Location: East Haven, Connecticut, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 123719780719 Casted “crown ring” of a type ubiquitous to Slavic countries of Eastern Europe and the Balkans between the 11th and late 19th centuries. A mass produced “stolovat” type categorized as “folk” jewelry, to distinguish it from the more costly raiment of the nobility, landed gentry and ecclesiastical hierarchy in Byzantium and the Kingdom of Great Moravia in the Medieval Period. The beaded and filigree work encountered on the finer silver examples is imitated here through a process of casting and hand molding. Material is two piece casted bronze. The size is approximately as US 5. More information on this ring type is included on pages 116 & 117 of “Ancient Rings: An Illustrated Collector’s Guide” (also for sale). Condition: Wearable, Provenance: Southeastern Europe, Material: Bronze
