Seller: acmer (73) 100%, Location: Klongsan District, BA, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 191774853258 Condition: Very good condition. Sturdy. Well crafted. Can use in everyday life., Material: Gold, Details: Very Rare, Antique Gold Ring from Indonesia (Majapahit Kingdom or east java tribute kingdoms in 15th Century A.D.) It has black stone setting (to my knowledge, it looks like Agate) and over-sized large broad shoulder. The appearance of the ring makes one feel that this was made for a noble or a military commander of that time, not for a layman. The item like this is very scarce, extremely hard to find. I have two from the same hoard in Indonesia from 1998 and want to sell this one. Majapahit Kingdom (Karajan Majapahit or Kerajaan Majapahit) was a naval military empire from 1293 to 1500 A.D. based on Java Island in Today's Indonesia. Majapahit superseded Srivijaya (Srivijaya or Srivichai was Buddhist kingdom from 600 A.D. to 1300 A.D. that constructed the famous monument Borobudur). Majapahit was at its peak the marine authority that controlled trading in the Malay peninsular and much of Southeast Asian sea, covering more land plus sea territory than any other kingdoms in Southeast Asia. According to Chinese source, Zheng He (Ming Dynasty's admiral) reported his visit to Majapahit during one of the world's largest convoy fleets led by Zheng He from China to India and Africa in early 15 century A.D. However, Majapahit Era left to us very limited architectural evidence (possibly most dwellings and temples were made of wood that by this time become decayed by the tropical climate) but more evidence in ancient jewelry of different rankings of its citizen including beads, silver, and (rarely) gold from the burial site. Weight is approx. 12.0 gram. Diameter approx. 18 mm. (approx. size 8, see reference below). I recently tested this gold with the Jewelry testing lab and found that the gold alloy is about 14.23K (59.28% pure gold, 36.01% pure silver, 4.7% copper) and yet it has nice composing of large yellowish like 20K. Gold Alloy of 14K is common for ancient ring from Southeast Asia Hindu Kingdom like Majapahit and Ancient Khmer. This made it strong for daily use on your hands. Higher Gold Alloy like 18K and 20K might be too soft for ancient outdoor life. I put the low selling price that, despite of its precious rarity, is still affordable for the time of holidays!! The item is in good original condition. This is an antique jewelry that can be used. It is strong for wearing it everyday. This can be a very unique, cultural, and valuable gift that owner of it can pass down to the next generation. Please see the reference to sizing below.
