ANTIQUE, HAND-COLORED ENGRAVING CAREFULLY REMOVED FROM AN OLD BOOK OF BOTANICAL PRINTS, PUBLISHED 1831! 

Here is a rare, hand-colored copperplate engraving on watermarked rag paper from a botanical book of flowering plants published 1831 in London, written and edited by B. Maund, F.L.S.   This delightful four-to-a-page format of delicately engraved flowers, many of which were cultivated in the Royal Gardens, are included in the collections of Victoria and Albert Museums, listed as the finest botanical miniatures produced.   Some of the finest British botanical artists of the early 19th Century contributed to the work.  Along with Edwin D. Smith, the artists were primarily women; Mrs. Withers, Mrs. Edward Bury, and Miss S. Maund. 

 This is a great, unique picture to give as a gift or add to your own home decor.

THIS IS NOT A FINE ART PRINT / POSTER AND IS  NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION, BUT IS AN ORIGINAL PAGE FROM AN ANTIQUE BOOK PRINTED 1831, MAKING THIS PICTURE 184 YEARS OLD!     

  

CONDITION

"VERY GOOD"

THERE ARE NO TEARS, FOXING, WATER DAMAGE OR OTHER FLAWS OF THAT TYPE ON THE PICTURE.

  This print would be rated in excellent condition but for the library stamp that was found in the bottom right hand corner.   It has been very carefully removed so as to be nearly unnoticeable.   The paper in the area where it was removed became thinner and has been reinforced from behind with acid free materials.   They are not seen from the front and won't be seen at all after being matted.    All steps possible were taken to protect and preserve this wonderful old print!   If not for the stamp this print would be in excellent condition.   Other sites have these listed at up to $150.00!
