Offered for the first time on E-bay is a RARE high-relief corner tile produced by the Saxony Stove and Wall Tile Factory of Germany, Circa 1910. The cast is that of a woman holding, what appears to be, a cornucopia of flowers and a small child holding a ball. It is finished in a white high glaze. The tile is approximately 16.5 inches high, 5.25 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. It weighs approximately 6 pounds 2 ounces. Incised marks on the side include “SOMAG OFEN” “Meissen” and the numbers “1 19 C 34.” The tile was purchased by Kenneth Forster for illustration on page 15 in his very informative book “Tiles & Styles – Jugendstil Secession – Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts Design in German and Central European Decorative Tiles, 1895-1935", 240 pp., copyright 2015.
