RARE c1900 Cataract House Hotel Niagara Falls NY Reed & Barton 4+ XX Spoon. Description: Very rare Reed & Barton 4+ XX large spoon that was from the Cataract House Hotel in Niagara Falls NY. It is engraved on the handle. The Cataract House was originally built in 1825 but burned to the ground in 1945. Since it hasn't operated for 70+ years stuff from the Cataract House is increasingly rare. I could not find a record of any other spoons from the Cataract House ever sold. I believe this Reed & Barton 4+ XX mark is a thick silver plate mark, although I have tested it an got the occasional positive result for sterling. Please assume this is silver plate as I'm pretty sure that is what it is. I believe it is c1900 - 1910. I have acquired a couple different spoons from the Cataract House from the same estate, but since none have ever sold I will gauge interest here. Measurements: just under 8 1/2" long Condition: Good overall. Obvious tarnish to silver plate and faint cosmetic imperfections from use (light surface nicks and scratches). I have not attempted to clean it... I'm sure it can be polished up nicely. Please inspect the photos. Shipped FREE via USPS First Class with appropriate care... Thank YOU!
