This gold-trim set, circa 1880's features a bi-color decanter with stopper and two matching cups; all with incredible hand-painted Prunus flowers of two variations showing attention to detail seen in pre WWI glass artistry. By today's standards, this set is very small. The decanter sits 7 inches high and has a square shouldered tapered form in Amber glass with an applied reeded handle in Peacock blue. The stopper is heavily faceted and also is Peacock blue. The decanter bottle has a tri-corn rim and unlike Northwood, Hobbs, & others, it features a deeply dished base with a ground pontil, which is another New England trademark. The decanter remarkably comes with its original matching cups, which makes this a spectacular find! Decanter measures 7" tall with stopper x 2.5" x 2.5"The cups measure 1.5" tall x 2.5" wide including the handle with a 1.5" openingThis set was purchased from an estate auction. The appraiser with the auction provided the above information. He said there is a chance that the stopper may not be original, but since the color and style are true to the maker, he could say for sure. *** Payment: For auction-style listings, payment is due three days after the auction ends.
