Solid silver, bears the Imperial Russian "84" silver hallmark print. The crucifix is lightly worn out and bent. The necklace loop is lightly deformed, but is structurally preserved and sound. Authentic antique symbol of Orthodox Christianity, sound and wearable. Origin likely c. 19th century Imperial Russia. The size and weight of the pendant are shown on the photographs for the listing. The obverse of the cross pendant bears an iconic image of the Crucifixion, with Jesus Christ the Savior crucified on a Latin-style cross. The top part of the vertical crossbar bears the "INRI" nameplate inscribed in Cyrillic letters just above Christ's head. In addition, the side ends of the horizontal crossbar bears the Sacred Name of Jesus Christ, inscribed with smaller and partially worn out letters as the "IC XC" Greek Christogram. The reverse of the cross pendant bears an image of Saint Barbara, also known in the Eastern Orthodox Churches as the "Saint Great Martyr Varvara". This name in abbreviated form is inscribed within the horizontal crossbar. St. Barbara is depicted carrying a sword and a Martyr's Cross. The top part of the vertical crossbar just above the Saint's head bears an image of the Holy Spirit depicted as a dove descending on the Saint. St. Barbara is an early Christian saint venerated in the Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican Churches, with her feast day celebrated on December 4. This side also bears the "84" hallmark, which was the Imperial Russian standard for silver based on the ancient "zolotnik" unit.
