Flame Fusion Synthetic Alexandrite Sapphire, color change, Ring 10K gold.  The ring setting is solid 10K yellow gold.  The stone is a 5 carat flame fusion Alexandrite Sapphire which is a unique method of treatment for stones used in Russia in the early 1950's.  This particular stone is a wonderful red color with shades of orange. It seems to change color depending on the lighting.  The flame fusion process was used for a very short period of time in Russia.  The stones resulting from the process, even though they are considered synthetic, have a unique depth and variation in color not commonly seen in synthetic stones, but more like the coloration of a natural stone.  These stones are rare and not often found for sale. I bought this ring at an auction and was not sure what the stone was, so I took it to Markman's and consulted with the gemologist to find out what this beautiful stone was and the gemologist determined that the stone was a  flame fusion Alexandrite Sapphire!    Stone measures 12mm x 10mm Size 8 Weighs 4.1 grams Hallmarked 10KT and EV 26 This is a buy it now, we only have one, when it sells it's gone!
