Single 8 1/2” X 11” flyer from Ray Zone’s Zone Show interview with Robt Williams. Presented by EZTV Video Gallery in West Hollywood sometime in the 1980s, I’m guessing. Featured “a 30 minute video glimpse of underground and outlaw folk art as well as an actual exhibit of oil paintings”. And for the Wednesday reception only, “an additional video short, the notorious Robt. Williams Zomo restroom interview”. A MUST FOR THE ROBT WILLIAMS COMPLETIST!
*NOTE Flyer is cropped in photo to delete phone # in compliance with eBay rules. Actual item is full 11” deep and includes original EZTV address info.
This flyer is from the estate of noted art pioneer Ray Zone.
Robert Williams (also known as Robt Williams) is an American cartoonist, painter and founder of Juxtapoz, a magazine of art and culture.
In the 1980s, Williams became involved with punk rock culture and found a ready audience. During this period, he published Zombie Mystery Paintings , which influenced and inspired a multitude of artists with its vibrant, sexy, and ultra-violent images. These works were done quickly, on rough canvas, and were sold via a waiting list due to heavy demand. The popularity of this work was established in avant-garde galleries .
Williams was one of the group of artists who produced Zap Comix along with others such as R. Crumb, Victor Moscoso, S. Clay Wilson, Rick Griffin, Spain Rodriguez and Gilbert Shelton.
Ray Zone was an American film historian, author, artist, and pioneer in methods of converting flat images (in particular, comic books) into stereoscopic images. Zone was called the "King of 3-D Comics."
