Here's a extraordinarily nice production piece of ROOKWOOD POTTERY from 1930 and shape #6029. The piece is based on an original much earlier ROOKWOOD shape.. #130, but redesigned with an updated embossed Art Deco style decoration by Rookwood artist SARAH TOOHEY (from shape records..not a signed piece). The piece is a fat vase, 6-1/2" tall and about the same diameter at widest. Decoration is a 3" wide band of carved florals (I'm not sure of the flower), but a very busy pattern. The glaze is a very dark blue, which I believe Rookwood called Cerulean Blue Mat, though this is a more intense color than other examples I've seen and has wonderful dripping of color from the base of the floral band to the bottom of the pot...outstanding artistic effect and uniform around the entire circumference. An eye-catching piece and mint condition. Prior to bidding, please read below the information on payment, return policy and on international shipping. Thanks. |
