Seller: Top-Rated Seller callmemouse (1,247) 100%, Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 173903911750 ABOUT:I love fruit patterns on my silver! Here is a set with a matching motif - with a cute little compote or dish on a pedestal with strawberries around the border made by Woodside, paired with a three-prong Strawberry or berry fork made by Durgin with berries leaves and flowers up the handle and into the tines. Very nice quality. Would make a lovely accent to your table or a beautiful gift! Perfect for tea time, brunch, or dessert service adding an interesting piece to the place setting.Durgin was absorbed into Gorham in 1905 so the fork would date sometime prior to that period. Woodside was in operation from 1896 to 1925.Single initial monogram on the handle of the fork.MEASUREMENTS:The dish measures 3 1/2 wide and stands about 1 1/2 inches tallFork is about 4 3/4" in length.Combined weight is about 40 grams.MARKS:Marked Sterling on the back with the appropriate makers' marks. The dish is also marked #1559 and the fork also has a retailer stamp.IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:Please note that due to age, this is in estate condition with surface wear and scratches from use and polishing over the years. I see a few of the shallowest of dings to the dish, no deep pin dings but just a few shallow indentations that I tried to show in the photos. The base is a little out of round but seems to still stand squarely and sturdily on the table. The fork has scuffs and surface scratching on the smooth back and where it meets the table. And then there are a few areas of tarnish. No damage or scratching, no dings or dents to any of the strawberry artwork or designs. Has been lightly hand polished but retains some patina to make the intricate details stand out. Many years left in this fantastic and whimsical set!But again Please note this set is not in mint condition. I have many more pieces of sterling flatware listed so please see my other auctions!SHIPPING:I ship internationally using the Global Shipping Program and due to the high cost of shipping, I don't allow returns so please see photos and condition notes closely!I dearly love, collect, use and sell antique American sterling silver flatware and housewares including Tiffany and Co., Gorham, Durgin, Shiebler and more! Thanks for stopping by!Georg Jensen, “the father of Scandinavian Silver,” on the occasion of his 60th birthday remarked, “Silver is the best material we have. The character of silver is satisfactorily obstinate, it has to be conquered – and then it has the wonderful moonlight luster. [It] can seem like twilight, or, when it dews over, like ground mist rising.” I COULDN'T AGREE MORE : ) Brand: Durgin & Woodside, Age: 1850-1899, Type: Fork & Dish, Style: Strawberry Fork, Pattern: Strawberry, Composition: Sterling Silver, Maker: Durgin
