This is a "Honeymoon Bond and Insurance Policy" payable in heavenly bliss at San Diego, CA. During the 1930's expo in San Diego a resident named Joseph Dryer proclaimed San Diego as "Heaven on Earth" and decided to start a club called "The San Diego Heaven on Earth Club" whose mission was to promote the beauty, climate and to spread good will and hospitality that San Diego has to offer. Kind of a booster club for San Diego. Also a popular tourist attraction at the time in San Diego was "Ramona's Marriage Place". This is a building in Old Town, San Diego. A very popular book written in the late 1800's called "Ramona" was about a woman named Ramona and in the book she got married at this place in Old Town. Because of that book, it was a popular thing for couples to come get married here and have their honeymoon in San Diego. This club grabbed onto this and created this "Honeymoon Bond" brochure to sell people on coming to San Diego to get married and honeymoon here in San Diego. Open the brochure and you can see a picture of "Ramona's Marriage Place in Old Town" and also in Balboa Park was "Honeymoon bridge" that was removed a few decades ago became it became unsafe. This fun original "honeymoon bond" opens to 4 panels and is in perfect condition. A nice little piece of San Diego's history.
