Plate Information

Sèvres porcelain dinner plate. Hunt Service Style. The King Louis Philippe commissioned the hunt service for the  Château  de Fontainebleau in  1835, and the first pieces were delivered between 1839 and 1841. Many pieces were commissioned in subsequent years. This plate was probably done after the reign of Louis Philippe. 

 

The design on the set was created by Jean-Charles-Francois Leloy and inspired by the Renaissance and  Château de  Fontainebleau, where French Kings enjoyed going to hunt. The highly decorated border  has scrolling leaves and animals emblematic of the hunt , including deer, foxes, hares, squirrels, and dogs. The head of the plate bears the initials “LP” for Louis Philippe on a Pompeiian Red background.

9.25 inches (23.5 cm) in diameter.

Condition

“LIKE NEW” condition. NO chips, cracks, crazing, or stains. Gold is almost in perfect condition.
