This is a rare March 7th, 1949 "Playgoer" playbill from the one-week, Pre-Broadway tryout and WORLD PREMIERE engagement of the RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical hit "SOUTH PACIFIC" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The production would open April 7th, 1949 at the Majestic Theatre in New York City and run for 1925 performances.) ..... Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 10 Tony Awards, the musical starred MARY MARTIN as "Ensign Nellie Forbush" and EZIO PINZA as "Emile de Becque" and featured MYRON McCORMICK, BILL TABBERT, MARTIN WOLFSON, HARVEY STEPHENS, JUANITA HALL, BETTA ST. JOHN, HENRY SLATE and ARCHIE SAVAGE .....
