  • Shipping: All DOMESTIC shipping charges INCLUDE insurance. We have enjoyed shipping our items all over the world and are happy to offer most of our items to international buyers. Yet insuring International parcels is very expensive so PLEASE NOTE; we do NOT insure International orders unless winning buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance quote. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and send payment acknowledgments and shipping confirmations. Your prompt payment will assure a very quick turn-around time. IMPORTANT NOTE: If our shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is especially important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are rough estimates.

These are the VERY FIRST style of bottles to be used by Bayer, this style possibly dates back to the latter 1800's.  These early bottles came in two (2) sizes and styles, this is the larger size, a rectangular shaped bottle made for around the home.   The other style is a smaller oval tear-drop shaped bottle, made to easily fit in a pocket or purse for going mobile.    Most all of the 'antique' Bayer bottles you see for sale on the internet are the newer bottles with the word Bayer just embossed on each side.   But this original bottle with embossing in cross on front in round circle that are hand Blown Into Mold (BIM) with a gound top, are rarely seen for sale, hard to find!   Heroin connection?   Aspirin is not the only product put out by Bayer .... Bayer actually started producing HEROIN in the late 1800's. Using the name ( Heroin ) supposedly because early testers said it made them feel heroic or like a hero thus heroin (hero{in}) became the name.   Bayer began selling it in tablet form in the 1890's. By 1899, Bayer was producing about a ton of heroin a year, and was eventually exporting the drug to other countries as well, including the USA. But reports of HEROIN addiction reached dangerous proportions so in the early 19-teens, Bayer wisely elected to withdraw from Heroin production. Bayer had released their aspirin tablets at about the time they were producing heroin and so turned all of its resources to the manufacturer of aspirin, and this new non-addictive painkiller and anti-inflammatory was well on its way to becoming the most popular drug ever .   How about the beautiful deep purple color? You hear about old glass turning purple in the sunlight ... The beautiful purple amethyst color of this bottle is the result of being made with manganese in the glass, a mineral that was pulverized and added to vats of liquid glass that acted as a decolorizing agent to turn the natural aqua-tinted glass into a pure crystal clear colorless glass.  Exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, triggers a chemical reaction and the manganese oxidizes and turns a wonderful amethyst color.  This bottle has been exposed to a high heat/light source to enrich the purple color that would naturally occur if exposed to sun light for a prolonged period of time.  With few exceptions, only clear glass from before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make it a great looking bottle, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique!  Anyway, the purple color of this bottle just sets the morning sunlight on fire as it passes through the window and shines through the translucent purple color that this bottle is made up of , check it out!
