Vintage AD&D 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons TSR Hardcover Hardback 5 Item Lot
This auction is for Advanced Dungeons And Dragons 2nd Edition Dungeon Master's Guide, Players Handbook, Character Record Sheets, and Monstrous Compendium Volume 1 binder, also containing the Volume 2 add-on sheets.
These are all in amazing condition, considering their age.
They have been stored in a dry, climate-controlled box untouched for over 25 years, along with my collection of 1st Edition AD&D books, manuals, and boxed sets – as well as other role playing manuals and accessories for non-D&D games.
I describe the condition of each book below. Feel free to contact me for photos of specific books.
Dungeon Master's Guide (1989) - very light rubbing on cover edges and corners; very minor crease lines; solid binding; crisp clean pages. I would conservatively rate this VG++.
Player's Handbook (1989) – light rubbing on cover edges and corners; minor crease lines; solid binding; crisp clean pages. My name and address is written on the inside front cover – and “March 1989 – 25.95” is written on the top corner of the first blank page – both in calligraphy pen. I would conservatively rate this VG+.
Character Record Sheets – I believe these are untouched / none were used. I couldn't see any perforations where sheets might have be taken out, and the staples in the middle appear to be as flat as new. This WAS in mint condition – until I dropped it taking the photo – and a slight tear on the top of the front cover happened. No damage to any sheets, but just very bad timing. I posted a pic of the rip.
Monstrous Compendium – this is in near perfect condition – with no real blemishes on the outside of the binder at all. It contains the pages from Volume 1 and Volume 2 – and includes 16 tabs with full colour pictures on them. I have labelled the tabs with the letters A through P in pencil (which appears to have been written lightly, so should come up cleanly with an eraser if desired). This is a tad confusing – because alli nformation I could find, says Vol.1 comes with 12 tabs, and all Volumes from 3-15 come with an additional 4 tabs each... but Vol.2 says it doesn't come with any. Perhaps original printings of Volume 2 came with 4 tabs?
I included the original Vol.1 binder box – and have included pictures of it's poor condition, particularly in the top corner of the spine. The cardboard for Vol.2 has a few tiny blemishes on the front.
Also included is an "exclusive" extra monster description for "The Manotor" - and although I assume this was a creation of my 16 year-old self, the picture was almost certainly traced from an existing image. It is also particularly comical - that although the spelling of Minotaur is correct in the description - for some reason the nomenclature of the actual monster is clearly incorrect. I believe this unique entry is a vital "must have" for any serious AD&D fan, and really carries the value of the entire lot. Haha.
Thank you so much for your interest, and please give these old school babies as good a home as they had with me & my friends.
