Seller: Top-Rated Seller katharinburridg0 (232) 100%, Location: Epsom, New Hampshire, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 163341513328 I adore all things Irish, & loved living in County Clare for a few years in the late 70's. I bought this charming sterling silver Tara brooch from a local silversmith in Galway City. This piece is not marked .925, but this small scale silversmith only worked in sterling silver. His initials TJH are stamped on the back as well as 3 other tiny hallmarks that are too small for me to read. The brooch features a stylized Irish dagger, with a piece of Connemara Marble set in the handle. This sits atop an ornate circle with lovely Celtic knotwork on the bottom & delicate herring bone pattern on the top. The brooch is 1 3/8'' diameter along the dagger. Secure clasp. Straight pin. 4.5 grams (Includes marble). The Tara brooch was first made in medieval times (650-750 AD). It is also called a penannular brooch, used to secure capes, kilts, etc. It has a firm place in Celtic history. It is unique, hard-to-find and precious. If questions, please message me. I ship within 24 hours. I will combine shipping for savings with other items from my store, luckinthebox. Condition: Pre-owned, Condition: Pristine condition, Brand: Local Irish Silversmith, Main Stone: Connemara Marble, Metal: Sterling Silver, Country/Region of Manufacture: Ireland, Metal Purity: 925 parts per 1000, Main Stone Creation: Natural, Main Stone Color: Green
