Seller: leaferdude (3,427) 100%, Location: Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 372330855792 Up for your consideration is a rather unusual piece of artwork. I bought it years ago at an estate sale. It was described as a stone turtle ashtray. I bought it as I loved the workmanship put into this piece. I am not sure of the origin. Looking at pictures of Mayan carvings in Chitzen Itza, Mexico show a familiar animal head to the one on the ashtray. I am calling it an ashtray as the previous owner may have used it as one. I never cleaned it and their is some brown staining around the rim. It appears to be missing some tiny black beads (at least I believe so) as some of the indented circles are empty. On the bottom is the imprint of etched feet (four toes?). It measures about (6") six inches at its longest point and about (3/4") three-quarters inches tall. The circle measures about (2 1/8") two and one-eighth inches in diameter. There is quite amount of work involved in creating it. If anyone has an idea of its heritage or history, I would be very glad to hear from you. Please review the pictures and email with questions or comments. I offer free shipping in the USA. Also check out my other items up for auction this week. thanks... Condition: It is in good condition with no cracks--some of the little black button beads are missing. A very unusual artifact., Material: Stone, Provenance: Ownership History Not Available
