From a noted Dallas collection:
this unique one of a kind handmade statement necklace from master designer Jules Van Rouge "as seen in Vogue". Acquired during a modeling shoot 50 years ago by the late Dallas retailer who loved it first. Now it can be yours.
This piece, like so many -most lost to us today- was probably made custom to a runway or fashion shoot. (Van Rouge & partners hastily constructed over 2800 Vogue and publication stylings). In fact, its amusing "charm bracelet" motif combines fish, starfish and vaguely Mayan figurals. "Give me more seaside!" you can almost hear a 1970 art director barking as the piece raced across Manhattan to be recomposed to match the shot.
Even the chain links themselves are unique: silver balls with gilt jumprings; the fish have tiny turquoise or coral eyes. The cast figurals are gilt. Overall, a 20" chain/wearable length which could be elongated at the spring clasp; about a 6" drop from the collarbone. About 20+ gilt charms and components. JvR metal hangtag.
Like a forgotten artist, Van Rouge's work is being reconstructed by fans and collectorsh, slowly gaining artisanal collectible appreciation. This is a unique piece and a unique opportunity. Questions welcomed!
This ships carefully, domestic US only please. Again, we welcome questions.
