Seller: thoma_vand (235) 100%, Location: Grimsby, Ontario, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 254329950088 From one of the leading makers of HIGH Quality, vintage era (and older) glassware .... Anchor-Hocking - began manufacturing in 1905. Their well-known & well-loved brand, FIRE-KING, was released in the early 1940s ... often producing & releasing similar or even the same products .... sharing graphics as well ...Offered here is a Vintage, Anchor-Hocking Fire-King, OPAL-WHITE, MILK-GLASS, Round, Dual-Handle, Clear-Lidded, 1 1/2 QT Casserole - with RARE FORGET-ME-NOT, fired on both sides in - near MINT - MOST EXCELLENT, barely-used condition. Produced 1964-66.ALL surfaces are super-highly-glossy, shiny, clean, and smooth. There are NO significant stains, scratches, hazing nor rubs on either the Lid or Casserole Dish.Casserole Dish - There are no chips, cracks, flea bites - very light use, some very faint scratches on interior, outside edge. This Opal-White Milk-Glass Casserole-Dish has a beaded outer edge - the dual scalloped handles flow out of the beaded edge and are nearly level. The fired-on graphics are applied to both sides of the casserole - they are CRISP, CLEAR, and nearly COMPLETE - HIGHLY-GLOSSY - NO wear, minimal colour loss, a little separation in the graphics from when it was applied, or it may be a small scratch. The design is a sprawling bouquet of flowers. This design is referred to as "Blue and Gold" and is difficult to find as it was produced for a very short period – RARE – 1964-66.This Round Casserole Dish measures 8 1/8" in diameter, across the top edge; 9 1/2" across the handles; the base seating rim measures 5 3/4" in diameter; 2 7/8" in height - ~ 4 1/4" with the lid on, domed. The Round Casserole Dish is embossed on the bottom, concentrically: "447; ANCHOR HOCKING; U.S.A; 1 1/2 QT; "H over Anchor" LOGO; OVENWARE; 20; Fire-King".Casserole Lid - There are no cracks, flea bites - very light use - there is a small chip on the very outer edge, a little residue in the mold-seam overflow edge. This Crystal-Clear, Flat-Top Casserole-Lid has a beaded outer edge - the dual scalloped handles flow out of the beaded edge and are nearly level. The form of this Lid is a perfect match for the Dish's profile. This Lid fits the Casserole domed or reversed for storage.Although there is no maker's mark, there is the # "497" embossed at one end of the lid - as Anchor-Hocking Fire-King Lids are marked. This LID measures 8 1/4" in diameter in diameter; 9 1/2" across the scalloped handles; 7 1/2" across the inner rim; ~1 1/2" in height. I believe that this lid would fit a 2 QT casserole - clear or milk-glass - with similarly scalloped handles.SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION –Rounded-Bottom Style Casseroles were released in the 1950s or so. They featured a profile which tapered gently from the top, beaded edge to near the base where it rounds to the base seat-rim - dual scalloped level handles; beaded outer edge.THE BEAUTY of the flat-top utility lid is that it was designed with MULTI-PURPOSE - to serve as an elegant, fitted lid; to stand alone to be used as a baking dish; to serve as a trivet as well.Anchor-Hocking Fire-King graphics Pattern – FORGET-ME-NOT; "Blue and Gold"; 1964-66. The stylized "H-over-Anchor" logo - introduced in 1937 - was phased-out for the "boxed anchor" by 1977 - the new logo began to appear in 1968 - BUT - it took a while for all molds to be replaced with the new embossing. Not all pieces were embossed with a logo.SHIPPING - Able to ship from Canada (default) OR US (please contact with request OR for pricing. Add a day to handling-time).
