1930s REAL PHOTO POSTCARD VIEWS OF EUROPEAN MOUNTAINEERING TOUR OF THE ALPS, INCLUDING STEAM SHIP TRAVEL, MOUNTAIN CLIMBING, GLACIERS, NOTED ARCHITECTURE, etc.
66 VINTAGE REAL PHOTO POSTCARDS, STRIKING VIEWS OF POLAND, ITALY, CROATIA, ETC. Many of them are identified and dated in period ink on back, between 1932-1937. All but one of the photographs are on various real photo postcard stocks (3.5 x 5.5 inches). Included are several views of their steamship travel, plus amazing views of Adamello Mountain Glacier (including a woman peering into a giant chasm), Genoa Valley, Mt. Blanc Aiguille du Mide, Ragusa, Lido Palace (Italy), Sniezka Meteorological Observatory (Poland) [this building is now gone and has been rebuilt], Schrammsteine (Switzerland/Germany), Trsteno Arboretum and Omblaquelle (Croatia), etc. Also lots of views of Italian piazzas and other tourist attractions and ocean views. Many of the photos show people in their mountaineering gear, including ropes and climbing poles, etc. The photo postcards are all in very good condition, a few have some early soiling, but most are crisp and clean. A really great visual record of a European steamship travel and mountain trekking in the Alps in the 1930s.
