APT Novelty Co NY - Rare American Art Deco Radio lamp from the early 1930's
Stylish American spelter figural nude/nymph radio lamp made by APT Novelty Co NY in the early 30's.
It depicts a reclining nude on stepped pedestal who gazes into globe. The lamp has a classic bronze/gold finish and a nice original amber colored glass
"brain/crackle" gazing ball globe. It's in a great working vintage condition with almost no visible wear. The lamp has been rewired in the 70's and is equipped with a convenient E27 socket. It has a rotary on/off switch on the back of the base.
APT Novelty Co was a direct competitor of Frankart, another famous Art Deco production company from NY.
Frankart went to court to sue Apt Novelty for copyright infringement of their model and patented T-339 design.
The case was ultimately dismissed due to the fact that both companies had the women's arms in a different pose.
