Please note that most all of the jappaned finish is off of the scissor arm portion, a bit left on the back plate and the mirror frame. The mirror is wonderfully beveled, with no chips or cracks, but does have the hazing and light scratches found in mirrors over 100 years old. It is light hazing, I tried to show in photos as well as possible. There are white places, possibly paint drips on the oak back of the mirror frame., Color: copper, Material: steel, Details: For your consideration is this wonderful antique Scissor Arm Mirror which hangs easily on the wall with four screws and has great old Japan finish on the metal. This mirror came originally from a store in Chicago IL. It has a wonderful heavy cast ornate backplate, which was also Japanned finish. This mirror and the scissor arm is in fabulous working condition. It has been lightly brushed to even the finish and has a clear coat to enhance and protect the Japan finish. The mirror measures 23 1/2" tall. The actual mirror measures 12 1/2" by 9". The yoke holding the mirror is 11" across. The scissor arm is 5 1/2" across when closed and opens fully to approx. 33 1/2". The scissors are 7 1/2" tall. The backplate measures 12" tall. The mirror does have light wear to the finish as shown, great character, it was definitely used by many, but still well- taken care of. Overall, working condition for age is very good, but the Jappaned finish has been worn off through time. Look closely at the photos, this is a rare and stunning piece.
