This spectacular, large Ogi Folding Fan was made by 白竹堂 Yamaoka Hyakuchikudo, one of Kyoto’s oldest fan makers. It is previously owned but probably never removed from the box as it is in flawlessly perfect condition.
It depicts a dramatic hand-painted mountain scene of ’Mt. Horai’ with with gnarled pine trees. The background is golden amber clouds on one side and white with gold flakes on the other. The lacqured bamboo struts are done in glossy black & red finish. It comes in it’s original ‘Kiri’ Paulownia wood box with all the original stamps, seals and paperwork and includes a bamboo stand. This is an exceptional quality fan and a work of art and was clearly very costly when new … It measures an extra large 22” or 56cm from tip to tip when open and is 13½” or about 34cm long when closed. It comes in it’s original box.
