It's made of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not flimsy stamped/pressed brass or plated steel. This lovely plate was salvaged from a 141-year old hardware store in Chicago, IL. It was found fairly clean with only a subtle patina. The plate is considered, "New Old Stock (NOS)," which means that it was made a long time ago, but was never used. It's in excellent condition with only tiny nicks and light scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, chips, dents, or deep scratches.
