A GORGEOUS AND EXTREMELY RARE ENGLISH 1916 SOUGHT AFTER RARE CUSHION CASED SOLID GOOD GAUGE OVERSIZED 925 STERLING SILVER OFFICERS TRENCH WRISTWATCH CASE FITTED WITH A LOVELY SWISS MADE JEWELED ORIGINAL WATCH MOVEMENT.

CASE:

This is an absolutely beautiful, quality and 3 piece genuine snap back solid THICK 925 ENGLISH HALL MARKED STERLING SILVER CUSHION CASED watch case. This type of case as well as the round cases were normally used for Officers WW1 trench watches. The case is in good original condition, showing only normal wear marks and nicks throughout. The case back is in excellent condition with no dings that I can see and light marks from normal use. All of this is when viewed under magnification and there is nothing that detriments the watch much at all when it is on the wrist. The snap on peg located case back snaps to very well. The extended solid silver wire lugs are in good order. The case is fully hall marked for 925 sterling silver with assay and date marks for LONDON 1916 and the sponsors mark ‘GS’ (George Stockwell) This HEAVY GOOD GAUGE case measures approx 3.1cms (31mm) in diameter excluding the lugs and crown, which is a good size for a cushion case. It is of excellent quality and a good weight as you would expect.

DIAL:

This is a wonderful rare original white dial. The dial is in beautiful original condition and is showing NO hairlines and just a normal medium patina with light marks and wear. Authentic and original. It has a lumed red bordered 12. It has Lumed Arabic numerals and lumed cathedral style hands. All of the Arabic numerals are in good condition. The dial has a black painted outer minute track. The dial is un signed. The dial has 2 fantastic original cathedral style lumed steel hour, minute and sub second hands which look to be in good condition, showing just a little oxidisation and missing lume on the minute hand. The crystal is glass, may be the original and as such it is in used condition showing some light wear.

MOVEMENT:

This is a wonderful genuine good grade quality jeweled Swiss Made movement. It is unsigned and has 'Swiss Made' embossed onto it. This fantastic movement has just been oiled and timed. The movement will benefit as usual from a FULL SERVICE for optimum running performance and timekeeping. It is in good working order at this moment in time and is running well. I have timed it over 24 hours and keeps good time to within 1 min per day for its 107 years of age!. All in all this is a beautiful original movement. The crown is golden in color and looks to be the 'onion' shaped original.

BAND:

This is an excellent brand new black 20mm open ended black leather band for this watch. As such it is in lovely condition and compliments this gorgeous trench watch superbly.
