Excellent ancient agate Chung gZi. This gZI  presents four white circles bleached on dark red translucent agate, plus a central white circle representing a zig-zag pattern; good patina, very beautiful colour, small chips and dig marks, but old almost as the bead considering the patina over them. Please look carefully to our pictures, and read sizes and weight, because pictures are oversized to show lacks and values. Tibetans believe there are supernatural beads (not made from a stone of this earth - such as pure gZi with eyes) and there are also those that are created by human hands from agate (Chung gZi). Tibetans give the name "Chung" to any ancient agate bead, but, in spite of "Chung" means less, in sense of "less desirable" or "small", they held them with high regard, so it is normal to find Chung gZi in tibetan temples where they are valued as precious offers. The legend says that the older the bead and the more people who have held beliefs in a bead's ability to protect them, the more powerful the bead becomes. So maybe it is a mixture of both natural science and belief, working side by side. Then new beads will have very little, if any, power at all, and none of it protective.  A lot of people (not only from Tibet or Nepal or China) likes to wear one gZi as a protection from evil when travels.
